Biopharmaceutical innovation ecosystems: a stakeholder model and the case of Lombardy – Alberto Bettanti, Antonella Lanati, Alessandro Missoni
The purpose of this paper is to examine biopharma innovation ecosystems (IEs) through the lenses of a stakeholder model. In doing so, this work aims to answer the following research question: which stakeholders are required in an IE within biopharma industry and what are their main roles in the IE value creation. (…) The thesis of the paper intends to prove that biopharma IEs consist of a multilevel and longitudinal set of key stakeholders. Furthermore, by investigating the Lombardy case study, it explains the role of each stakeholder with regards to the comparative advantages required in the engagement with the IE. In addition, arising from a holistic view of the biopharma IEs, this research traces the biopharma IE dynamics through the analysis of the IE’s driving forces. This paper represents one of the first heuristic attempts to analyze in-depth biopharma IE from a holistic perspective.
Lo scopo di questo articolo è esaminare gli ecosistemi di innovazione biofarmaceutica (IE) attraverso le lenti di uno stakeholder model . In questo modo, questo lavoro mira a rispondere alla seguente domanda di ricerca: quali parti interessate sono richieste in un IE all’interno dell’industria biofarmaceutica e quali sono i loro ruoli principali nella creazione di valore per l’IE. (…) La tesi dell’articolo intende dimostrare che gli IE biofarmaceutici sono costituiti da un insieme multilivello e longitudinale di stakeholder chiave. Inoltre, approfondendo il caso studio lombardo, spiega il ruolo di ciascuno stakeholder rispetto ai vantaggi comparativi richiesti per la partecipazione nell’IE. Derivando da una visione olistica degli IE biofarmaceutici, questa ricerca traccia le dinamiche degli IE biofarmaceutici attraverso l’analisi delle forze trainanti degli IE. Questo documento rappresenta uno dei primi tentativi euristici di analizzare in profondità l’IE biofarmaceutico da una prospettiva olistica.
